To turn an unused space on school grounds into an Edible Garden and an outdoor learning space. To engage the school community in ways to live a healthier lifestyle whilst also reducing climate change.
Design and build an Edible Garden and a outdoor learning space, using an unused space on the school grounds, giving the pupils an area to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Learning farm to fork, no waste cooking, Smart cooking quick vegetarian meals using less energy, and environmental workshops on ways to help their local environment to increase biodiversity and reduce Climate Change, whilst learning life skills and ways to live a healthier lifestyle. To deliver Gardening, Healthy Living and Environmental workshops to the pupils and parents enabling them to connect with nature and learn new skills together. The project will also be a space that the school community can come together to hold events, camp nights, BBQ's and summer fetes. The Garden will be a vocal point for pupils to have outdoor lessons, gardening/cooking sessions, and learning about ways to help their local wildlife and environment educating the young generation to become Climate Ambassadors.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will use an unused space on the school grounds that is not accessible to pupils at the moment, giving pupils a space to learn and grow fruit, herbs and vegetables. Enabling young people to gain life skills and learn how to cook healthy nutritious meals, using substitutes for meat and sugar. Learning farm to fork and how food is grown, including learning how our eating habits can help reduce climate change. This will be a space where families are able to learn together and be able to support each other to make better food choices, whilst also supporting the local environment and education around climate issues and ways we as a community can support the local wildlife and environment.
