Ovation Music was founded in September 2015 and became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Registered Charity No. 1165405) in February 2016. The organisation provides a channel for children and young people to get involved in live music through playing, rehearsing and performing together. The staff and volunteer team of Ovation Music offer skills and experience to communicate with and inspire children and young people, helping them with their own musical journey. The charity aims to cover the costs of regular music sessions through a low fee scheme. Support from local business, along with donations, enables Ovation Music to provide regular performance opportunities to a large number of young musicians, as well as additional music workshops for those struggling with confidence and other barriers to participation.
As a registered charity Ovation Music aims to:
Advance the education of the public, particularly but not exclusively children and young people under the age of 18 years, in the art of music in Portsmouth and Chichester and in such other parts of the United Kingdom as the Trustees may from time to time think fit, particularly but not exclusively by the provision of workshops, educational opportunities and opportunities for children and young people to perform music
Promote the development of young people in achieving their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals
