Our Big Gig Lights, Camera Action is a Our Big Gig event, which includes four creative arts workshops of dance, song-writing, poetry/spoken word, DJ-ing skills and a GRAND FINALE Open Mic night.
MPLOYME me aims to offer an introduction into having a career in the Creative Arts sector. We will have 4 workshops (60 minutes each) during the day in the following disciplines:
- DJ-ing skills
- Song writing
- Poetry/spoken word
- Dance
Each workshop will be taught by leading professionals in the entertainment industry. A GRAND FINALE LIVE Open Mic and open stage event will be held at the end of the evening. Young people from the afternoon workshops will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and projects they have worked on during the day to a evening audience.
The event will be hosted by South London's favourite radio station presenters with special celebrity surprise guest.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We would like to be involved in the national event of Our Big Gig 2014 because we believe it is vital to give young creative performers the opportunity to develop and nature their talents. We will be helping the local community come together and provide an intergenerational platform for the evening entertainment.
Workshop Facilitators will assist young people to build confidence and develop skills that will support creative career advancement and answer any questions pertaining to a career in this sector.
Mentoring and further workshops are on offer to the young people after the event from our varied community groups: Smart Kids, Southwark Arts Forum, Metropolitan Police, Community officers, local community arts organisations, youth centres, Pecan Foodbank, Safe and Sound, Peckham Employment Academy, Connexions, Salmon Youth Centre, Downside Fisher Youth Centre, Kids Co and housing associations.
Steps to get it done:
The event will assist young people to build confidence and develop skills that will support creative career advancement.
On the night we will provide Professional singers, several London DJ's/ Radio Presenters and also award-winning performances from poets and professional dance teachers.
