We want to host a music event for our community as part of the Our Big Gig weekend, to raise funds for our project. We will have several bands, headlined by D'Ukes ukele band.

- Our Big Gig is a community music celebration taking place across the UK from the 11th - 13th July 2014.

- Our Big Gig will host up to 250 gigs around England across one July weekend

- An Inspired by 2012 project, this annual event brings communities together through local music and inspires people to take part in music making opportunities in their local area.

- All Our Big Gig events are free to attend and last at least 4 hours

- Our Big Gig provides a diverse mix of local artists, groups and performers the opportunity to perform at an event in the heart of their community

- Our Big Gig provides the opportunity for people to have a go at music making

- Our Big Gig allows people the chance to volunteer with and meet their neighbours

What we'll deliver:

  • Our 'Green Cafe' will be providing the food and drink at the event.
  • We will have an 8-piece ukele band on Saturday 12 July, encouraging audience participation and sing-a-longs

Why it's a great idea:

This is a great idea for small projects like ours to get involved in a national event. We love hosting music events and bringing people together in our local community. We also think it would be a great way for us to raise funds for our project as there's so much more we want to do!

Steps to get it done:

  • We have a great team of volunteers, so we'll book the band, market the event and DELIVER!

We already have a license for live music and a lease on the land - all we need is one-off event insurance.
