Why it's a great idea
OpenCanv will create tangible cultural and social benefits by increasing access to the arts, supporting emerging artists, and bringing inclusive creative activity into the local community. For emerging visual artists, the project will provide free opportunities to exhibit work, gain visibility, and connect with peers, audiences, and potential collaborators. This helps address a key barrier in the creative industries, where access to networks and platforms often determines success more than talent alone. For the wider community, the pop-up exhibitions and events will offer accessible, low-cost cultural experiences, creating opportunities for people to engage with art in an open and welcoming environment.
