Raising funds to deliver free music drop in sessions in Accrington, supporting OAK FEST 2024. Initiative open for local musicians and residents to enjoy 2 rehearsal spaces with all equipment to jam.
Spaces have been made available within a local venue for full band set ups ready for anyone interested in having a jam. Whether that's an already formed band looking to rehearse or an individual who'd like to try out an instrument in a safe and friendly environment. Attendees will have access to expert knowledge as sessions will be hosted by musicians, sound engineers and studio owners. Professional quality instruments will be available to play, including drum kit, guitar and bass amplification, stage pianos, keyboards & vocal PA! Everything a budding musician needs to get going on their musical path. It's a great opportunity to make connections with like minded people starting out and those with more experience in the field. Established bands are welcome to use the facilities provided, with video shoots and photography sessions encouraged. We plan to offer this opportunity to add value in the run up to OAK FEST, Accrington's family and music festival and 4 weeks thereafter.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Adding value to the annually held OAK FEST, supporting the local music scene and night-life, whilst also providing an emotional outlet through expression to aid with the mental and physical wellbeing of all involved. Interest created in learning something new via taking up an instrument - with the opportunity to try out drums / guitar / bass / vocals / keys / sound engineering. Mental and physical wellbeing through artistic expression, meeting like minded individuals, forming new friendships and groups which may go on to form bands and become part of the local music scene and beyond - supporting local venues hard hit in recent times.
