The environment

The environment

Sustainability was at the core of everything we did. We used recycled materials where possible. We had equipment that had been previously used in other solar trails, we used a cargo bike and an e-bike to install and decommission the planets.

From our survey with 155 responses, 84% of responses showed that they visited and spent money in a local shop on the weekend.

We were lucky to have 10 volunteers with us over the course of the 2 days, from family and friends through to local associated community groups as well as other astronomical societies

The solar trial was the first of its kind in North Tyneside, overwhelmingly positive response from surveys showed that this ads to the depth and breadth of science and learning in the local community.

Many of the visitors to solar trail used modes of walking, wheeling and cycling public transport came second in terms of using the Metro and local bus services.
