We are organising a family fun day at Ashington Northumberland with all profits going to Survivors UK, but this event is also about awareness of Sexual abuse in Northumberland
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
A family fun day in Ashington Northumberland to raise money for Survivors UK who support male survivors of sexual abuse and assault victims, this event will also have another purpose, to raise awareness of childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault in general, we want to show our local community that no survivor needs to face it alone and fight back against the stigma, as a survivor myself, I know how hard the isolation is, we are reaching out to all of Northumberland and hoping we can help to change the lives of those affected by these traumas, with these connections I am also looking into starting peer support groups in the future, we only need a small amount for the venue costs and to get more prizes for the tombola and refreshments to make the event as successful as possible, thankyou
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Sexual abuse and assault is not something that's often talked about, well I believe it should be, how can survivors know they are not alone or that there is help available if we never talk about it? Also how can we fight back against the stigma and stereotypes if we never speak up? This family fun day is so much more than raising money for Survivors UK, this event will create a talking point in the local community and hopefully encourage those suffering in silence to reach out and get the help and support they both need and deserve.
Steps to get it done:
The main impact area is mental health and public education
