Since April 2024 we have grown our team, with 2 young deaf artists joining the delivery team alongside Creative Associate, EJ Raymond. This has brought new skills - illustration and photography - into what we can offer as activities for the group, as well as developing opportunities for local deaf creatives.

Arts, culture & heritage

Delivering North East Deaf Youth Theatre has made a big difference to Unfolding Theatre's approach to making deaf inclusive theatre. It has inspired the development of a deaf inclusive version of our new show, Here Be Dragons, which we will perform at Benton Park Primary for children at Newcastle schools' deaf units in May 2025. We have learned so much from the children and their families that inspires us every day!

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

North East Deaf Youth Theatre supports the children to have fun and be active, developing social connections and friendships with other deaf children. Parents have fed back to us how important this social time is for wellbeing, communication skills and confidence.
