Northwich Town Council own and maintain a skatepark in Northwich which is situated at Vickersway Park. With partners we want to remove this skate park and build a brand new facility for the community.
Our current skatepark is old and becoming harder to maintain and keep safe for users. It does not cater for the whole community and does not offer the same experience as other skateparks that have been built recently in the area. We want to remove the existing facility and replace it with a brand new facility that will meet the communities needs for many years to come. We want this skatepark to be an accessible to all facility where the whole community can visit, enjoy and gain new skills, and also new friends. A friends of group has already been formed and we encourage as many people as possible to join the group and have a say in the final design of the facility.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The existing facility is tired. Skaters want more, they want to be challenged and this new facility will aim to deliver that. We want everyone to feel that they can visit the skatepark, have a go, meet new friends, learn new skills and take ownership of the equipment. By getting the local community involved and local children/youths to hopefully join the friends of group, this will see a reduction in ASB in the town as we will be providing a facility for all to use any time they wish, as it will always be open. The new facility will promote health and wellbeing, help with mental health and generally get the local community active. The site will also increase the number of visitors from outside the area to visit, which in turn will help the local economy as visitors will get to know Northwich more.
