Friends of New Brighton Marine Lake are a group of Wirral residents committed to keeping the Lake clean and safe for the enjoyment of all. The Friends group was formally constituted in June 2023, when we recognised that the quality of the water Lake was deteriorating at the same time as increasing numbers of swimmers and paddleboarders were using the Lake as a focal point for community and water activities. The Friends advocate on behalf of the hundreds of people who regularly use the Lake and this much-loved beauty spot. We see ourselves as stewards of the Lake, working in collaboration o with Wirral Council to ensure the sustainabiliy of the Lake for generations to come.
The Friends' ethos is one of collaboration and inclusion, and we involve and support other groups, including: the Reluctant Runners, Friends of Victoria Quarter, Wirral Bluetits, Saturday Redcaps Group, Rustmen, Happy Chilly Dippers, Wirral Ice Swimmers, We also liaise with local businesses: Safe Water, Wallasey Yacht Club, Wallasey Beach CIC, and Coastal Communities.
As well as building relationships with other stakeholders, we have been fundraising towards our objectives.
