Why it's a great idea
Our aim is to improve the wellness of community members in Dudley as well as visitors to the area by encouraging them to connect with nature, creativity and each other.
The Creart Community Garden will help women and children without access to their own garden spaces the opportunity to engage with nature in a safe, inclusive space.
Helping to co-create the pallet. mural will allow for creative engagement and self expression and show that their voice and contribution is important.
Workshops will engage members of the wider Dudley community and give them a creative opportunity to share their voices as well as providing an opportunity to connect with other members of the community. We hope that it will also increase footfall and trade around the local area.

The majority of members of the creart community do not have access to garden space at home so the community garden would be hugely beneficial. The community centre supports many women who suffer with anxiety and other mental health issues, including trauma and they do not always feel comfortable accessing open park spaces with their young children so having a safe, enclosed green space at a place they already feel comfortable in will greatly increase their chances of engaging with nature.
Many studies show how being surrounded by fresh air, natural sunlight and greenery can help improve both physical and mental health. Taking care of the plants will hopefully give the community a sense of guardianship over the space.
The 2 groups collaborating will help to grow community connections and shared learning.
Participating in creative activities is beneficial to mental health and can help build connections with others, teach new skills and help people find meaning and purpose.
