Mutual Aid Hammersmith volunteers are finding neighbours in isolation with no food left in the home at all.
We are helping connect these people with the right organisations to arrange ongoing food deliveries but we recognise that some people need help right there and then.
There is a gap between volunteers uncovering the desperate situation neighbours are finding themselves in, and help arriving.
Mutual Aid Hammersmith volunteers are plugging that gap by providing emergency provisions. You can help too by funding one of 200 instant food packs. Each contains a nutritious hot meal and a mini shop with the essentials to see them through to tomorrow.
Your money will go to support those most in need at the point of need on your doorstep, in Hammersmith.
What we'll deliver:
- A minimum of 200 essential packs for those most in need
- Immediate help whilst a more permanent solution is found
- A volunteer army from Hammersmith working to deliver community response
Why it's a great idea:
These packs provide essential support in a time of crisis. Neighbours are running out of food because they cannot afford to shop and don't know where to turn, or are isolating and too frightened to leave their homes. These packs will bring support directly to their homes, immediately, at no cost to them.
The money raised will be spent exclusively on creating these packs, as all shopping, packing and delivery will be undertaken by an army of local volunteers.
Steps to get it done:
- 200 essential packs delivered to those in need in Hammersmith
This fund has been launched by Mutual Aid Hammersmith.
UNITED in Hammersmith & Fulham, a not-for-profit organisation with the vision ‘Better neighbours make better neighbourhoods' is the preferred registered charity to assist the collection of funds.
The distribution of funds will be overseen by the leadership of Mutual Aid Hammersmith, who will have a degree of responsibility to identify and vet the areas of greatest need for financial assistance.
