Free interactive music and movement sessions for the elderly and dementia patients living in care homes in Burnley, Rossendale and Hyndburn.
The Greater Good Project would like to tackle loneliness and isolation, which is contributing to poor mental health in elderly people living in care homes in Burnley, Rossendale and Hyndburn. Through interactive workshops using the medium of music, theatre and movement we will reach as many elderly people and dementia patients living in care homes as possible. The workshops will aim to brighten residents days with upbeat, interactive sessions that will have a positive effect on their mental health and wellbeing. The sessions will include music, singing, theatre and movement to engage residents alongside carers and family members. Sessions will be inclusive, encouraging residents to sing along, join in with seated dances/exercises and feedback on what music, songs they would like to hear. We know through research and past projects that many people living in care homes are incredibly vulnerable to loneliness and social isolation and this is something we are passionate about tackling.
