The Music for Memories Project looks to reconnect those experiencing memory loss with their memories and allow loved ones to use the individualised playlist to communicate with family members who are experiencing memory lapse, usually with a diagnosis of dementia or an awareness of the need to stimulate their memory. The project would aim to work with local senior schools, families, Care home Managers etc to ensure the playlist is as personalised to the individual as possible. The Alive Inside Headest provides a tool which delivers high quality music combined with safety features such as no external wiring which widens the net for those who can use it. Music is one of the most powerful things we can experience and this project will allow families, who may feel lost after a Dementia or other memory loss diagnosis, to come back together and share in memories and stories which they may otherwise never get to hear.

What we'll deliver:

  • A headset & personalised playlist for each person participating in the project
  • The opportunity for loved ones to reconnect with each other through music

Why it's a great idea:

Music has the power to allow those experiencing memory loss, and their loved ones, to reconnect with each other and their own story. Our project looks to provide and set up the equipment needed for people to rediscover their memories. Using the Alive Inside Headset equipment we will offer those living with memory loss the opportunity to develop their own playlist to be used either as their own source of comfort or to allow families to reconnect with loved ones who may not remember things like they once did. The project is personalised to each individual to ensure they get the most benefit and previous pilots have shown great value being added to the life of those able to access the project.

Steps to get it done:

  • Ordering first batch of headsets
  • Identifying and signing up first participants
  • Set up of music for first participants
  • Music for Memory time for families

We plan to start with 100 headsets and hopefully grow the project further from that number
