The idea
Losing a loved one is always difficult. It would be more difficult for family who is struggling to meet their needs during this crisis time. The Mid-Sussex Islamic Centre and Masjid wants to Spread kindness to provide the support needy members of the Muslim community in Mid Sussex.
The average cost for traditional burial for single deceased is about £4000 and it is increasing every year because of increasing land price. For some families arranging this amount in this critical time can be difficult who has already hard hit by financial struggling from lock down. To do this we need your help, we are appealing all of you to donate whatever the amount you can to our Emergency Burial Fund.
Although the project is focusing mainly for needy Muslim families however whereas possible this fund will use to provide partial or full financial support to assist funeral expense for any needy non-Muslim
What we'll deliver
- Provide advice, loans or grants for traditional Muslim burials.
- Minimise the possibilities any Muslim deceased being cremated as against Muslim ritual.
- Partial or full funeral cost support for non- Muslim.
Why it's a great idea
This fund will mainly be used to assist not only needy COVID19 Muslim victims but also unknown Muslim whose dead body is kept in hospital morgue for long time waiting to be buried according to ritual , passed visiting student who had no financial support to transport dead body to his family, any Muslim reverts who had no family support, needy Muslim eligible for Zakat, passed elderly people residing in care home without family support.
Our main aim is arranging a traditional burial for any Muslim deceased as quickly as possible. Government can support the burial expense through the social fund if the applicant is eligible, please view for further details: www.gov.uk/funeral-payments. Full burial cost is not always payable. However main concern is this delay in the burial as application process which can take 2 weeks to 4 weeks, in some cases even more. Also family members who apply on behalf of the deceased must be on benefits. This social fund process cause delay in the burial.
Steps to get it done
- Contact funeral director on behalf of needy deceased family if required
- Assistance and support to family who is unable to cover the burial cost.
- No cremation for any known and unknown Muslim
- Provide support contacting specialise funeral director or financial aid for non-Muslim
We welcome all donations small or large and thank you for your continued support to reach out to Mid-Sussex Community in need.
