This new crowdfunding programme from Tamworth Borough Council and Spacehive is an opportunity for organisations to deliver meaningful and impactful projects in our community. We are looking for ideas that build and promote good relationships in our neighbourhoods and strengthen bonds between people of all backgrounds and ages. We want these projects to strengthen resilience to hate and intolerance and promote cohesion and understanding across our community.

As part of this programme the council has created the Community Recovery Fund to support crowdfunding campaigns. The fund can support both capital and revenue elements.

  • 90k Revenue Budget – Tamworth Borough Council can pledge up to £5k per project (but this can be no more than 50% of the campaign target).
  • £75k Capital Budget - Tamworth Borough Council can pledge up to £5k per project  (but this can be no more than 50% of the campaign target).

If a project requires both revenue and capital funding, the council can contribute from both funds, up to a maximum of £10,000, no more than 65% of the campaign target.

* The council reserves the right to pledge higher amounts at its discretion.

** Pre-campaign funds and In-kind support are not included in the calculation of the council percentage pledge.

Glow Up Strong is a transformative programme in Tamworth, offering dynamic workshops designed to empower young individuals especially young women and girls by raising awareness about dating abuse and promoting healthy relationships. Utilising innovative tools such as the Safety Spin, created by Pathway Project, these sessions focus on recognising the early warning signs of domestic abuse. Delivered across schools, community centres, and youth groups, Glow Up Strong provides engaging materials, conversational opportunities, and reflection activities to build confidence and resilience. By addressing the critical awareness gap around dating abuse, this initiative fosters knowledge, respect, and boundary-setting, equipping participants to identify and respond to unhealthy dynamics. Statistics show: 1 in 3 young people aged 16–24 experience dating abuse. Nearly 25% of teenage girls aged 13–17 report physical abuse in relationships. Only 1 in 5 young people who experience abuse seek help.

Radio Training Courses

Radio Tamworth is the only community radio station in the area, and we would like to open up our Tamworth studios to put on free radio training courses for local residents of all ages. The course would be put on by radio professionals; it would be an eight-week course, with training one evening per week, and would result in a certificate, a one-hour show tape and a potential spot as a presenter on Radio Tamworth. The funding would contribute towards equipment and expert teachers.

ATO TALKS is a forward-thinking project designed to spark honest conversations about gambling harm with young people aged 16–24. Based at our quirky Tamworth HQ, we offer a relaxed, youth-led space to explore the emotional, physical, and financial impact of gambling — whether experienced directly or through friends or family. Through real stories and peer-led discussions, our holistic approach includes 1:1 support, helping break down stigma, build understanding, and strengthen resilience. We also offer practical coping strategies and tailored guidance to support each young person’s journey. Shaped by lived experience and grounded in UK youth culture, ATO TALKS connects in a way that feels real, relatable, and non-judgemental. Our work supports public health goals by tackling gambling harm before it escalates. With your support, ATO TALKS can reach more communities, give more young people the tools to speak up, take control, and shape a healthier future.

The 16 sessions will introduce people to innovative self -care through performing arts. The project will improve wellbeing, self-esteem and help some of the most vulnerable in our community to make new friends and have new interests. Shoebox Theatre CIO, led by local actor Margaret Manuell, will be providing the expertise in participatory performance, concluding in a show designed and developed by participants. Shoebox Theatre have a proven track record in delivering workshops in Tamworth. Throughout, we will provide a holistic mental health facilitator who will demonstrate wellness techniques and be Mental Health First Aiders if needed. People participating will be happier about themselves, have more confidence, and will know more like-people around them. They will have more knowledge of other local performance arts projects they can access. The project will be concluded with a unique arts performance, written, designed and performed by the participants themselves.
