Projects run by young people which transform or use a public place in a different way. The young people must be between 16-24 yrs old and either run the project on their own, in a group, or in partnership with an organisation.

A few ideas might be:

- Groups of young people decorating pavements with street art

- A team designing a digital treasure hunt to explore points of interest about a place

- An event in a park or a pop-up street performance

- Brightening up a disused or neglected space with plants or sculptures

- Upcycling to re-use unwanted items creatively

Your project should transform or use a public space in a different way, whether outdoor or indoor, to become a safe and vibrant place that can be used by young people or a mix of young people and adults.

1.    EXPRESSION OF INTEREST/ ATTEND A WORKSHOP

Complete our expression of interest form at your earliest convenience to inform us of your project idea and knowledge of crowdfunding. 

2.    PROJECT PAGE AND PITCH

Create your online project page which will match you the Transform Your Space: The Young People’s Fund, and you will be invited to pitch for a pledge through the Spacehive website. Additional information available here.  Deadline to pitch 13 Jan!

3.    VERIFICATION

The project costs and necessary permissions will be checked by independent verifiers, Locality. This involves checking quotes for all the major items and if you have land owner permission for your project.

4.    CROWDFUNDING

Run your crowdfunding campaign between late January and  April 2020. Start by getting lots of small pledges from the community to show local support for your project. This will help unlock bigger pledges.

Ealing Council will review all project campaigns and successful projects can expect to receive a pledge in early March.

5. HIT YOUR TARGET AND DELIVER YOUR PROJECT

Projects located in Acton, Park Royal, Chiswick, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall that bring people together by creating prosperous and attractive places.

Projects which encourage local people to feel welcomed, become involved and be active and independent.

Projects which transform a public space, whether outdoor or indoor, to become a safe and vibrant place that can be used by more people or all members of the public.

Projects which create opportunities to learn new skills and help people of all ages fulfil their potential.

* Projects crowdfunding as part of this programme can recieve a pledge of up to £5,000, exceptional projects can receive a pledge of up to £10,000. 

If you wish to be considered as an exceptional project, please take a look at the Future Ealing Borough Plan for 2018-22 found at www.ealing.gov.uk and show us how your project would support one or more of the nine listed priorities. 

We want our funds to:

• Inspire young people to work with others to make local spaces better
• Encourage people to get involved in activities that support good health and well-being
• Support projects which appeal to people who are lonely, vulnerable and may need additional care
• Make people of all ages proud of their local area
• Give young people, and others, the confidence and skills to deliver projects which will support local prosperity
