A group of Trustees have managed the Nature Reserve in Austerfield since 1999 when the land was donated by Hanson Aggregates for community use, biodiversity and education. We work in partnership with our neighbours namely Hanson's,Bawtry Carbon,Austerfield Study Centre and the local parish and town councils.
The environment is maintained by volunteers working to a plan developed by an ecologist to ensure that the valuable biodiversity is maintained.
Close links have also been forged with Doncaster Naturalist Society and Yorkshire Naturalist Union
Volunteers meet on a monthly basis and complete tasks such as hedge planting and laying, pond clearance ,path maintenance and creation of new wildlife habitats.
