Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Miss Valentina's Tower Hamlets Tour will pop up in unusual and public spaces across Tower Hamlets. The performance's are unique, as they are reflective of the spaces and places they pop up in, the people and locations will frame the interactions. This will engage people who do not normally have access to contemporary art, by popping up in spaces where people are carrying out their everyday activities. The performance is 'Miss Valentina' she talks and gently interacts with people in a playful way. She finds out the things that people love, and things people do to be more environmentally friendly, promoting self esteem and a more caring society through each performance. Locations: 1. What we'll deliver:

  • Pop up performance and exhibition in Public Spaces across Tower Hamlets Borough x10
  • Creative workshops for adults and children

Why it's a great idea:

It is a great idea because it makes performance and visual art accessible to a wider audience and creates a dialogue about it. The performances will re-frame the spaces they pop up in, creating new and unique experiences in our public places. Associated to the exhibition an performance there will workshops for adults and children for them to explore their own creativity, their connection to the art works on display and to rise environmental awareness. Some of the art works will be specifically created to reduce plastic waste and this will be one of the strands of the exhibition. It offers a wide exposure into different art mediums as the project will contain, a performance, art installation, photography and sound. In December last year I ran a pilot exhibition and performance of Miss Valentina at the Idea Store library in Whitechapel, funded by the Arts Council. The project was very well received and I am now ready to reach out wider into different communities and spaces.

Steps to get it done:

  • Research and design of the pop up exhibition for each location
  • Obtaining permissions to use all the locations
  • Designing the workshops
  • Delivery of the exhibitions and Performance
  • Delivery of the workshops
  • Evaluation and feedback from participants

It is a very integrated project, which will promote engagement with the arts through learning, community dialogue and promoting accessibility and critical dialogue about the arts and rise environmental awarness. Miss Valentina's Tower Hamlets Art Tour will be accessible to people with disabilities as it has visual, aural and tactile elements in the art works. The workshops will be accessible for people with disabilities, I have a background as an occupational therapist and I have been working as a community artist for people of all ages and abilities for the last nine years, as well as developing my own art practice.
