The idea
The project will be aimed at bringing men together to play and attend football together. This will benefit both their mental and physical health by giving them something positive to focus on, providing physical activity and a chance to build friendships. It will also help us promote and raise awareness of the importance of positive mental well being and how being active and meeting new people can improve this.
The basis for the project is to provide men with the chance to play football every week and meet new people. The link between exercise and positive mental health is massive and providing people with a platform to do that is so important. We will also provide match day visits for men to Walsall FC games to give them a positive event to look forward to.
The project will run weekly on a Monday evening at Sneyd Community Association, 7pm-8pm and will target men who live or work in the local area. We will monitor the affect on their well being before, during and after the project.
What we'll deliver
- A weekly football session for men
- Mental health support
- Group visits to Walsall FC games
