Milen Care is a chritable organisation based in Batley West Yorkshire. We provide day care services for older people and adults with disabilities, to support their mental health, physical health and social well-being. Milen Care was established in 1988 to initially to cater for the needs of elderly in the community. Milen Care has evolved to provide day care support to meet the growing needs of the aging population in the community, with specific health needs including Dimentia.
We provide transport service for day care members, to pick members from their homes and bring them to the centre and drop them off at the end of the session.
We have qualified staff to look after our members and to provide support. Freshly cooked meals are prepared daily, onsite and served by our staff. Daily activities are organised for our members, including exercise sessions, carom board competitions, and arts and crafts.
Our member have access to the library and resource facilities, newspapersand magazines in Urdu, Gujarati and English. Health Awareness sessions are organised and speakers are invited regularly to the centre. We also provide and information service.
Regular group outings are planned to places of their interest. Many of our members dont have opportunities for outings We provide accessible transport with support from our care staff make trips possible. Members often go on shopping trips, local events, parks and outings to meet their needs and supports their wellbeing.
At Milen Care we work in partnership with local and national organisations to improve the quality of care for our members. We work collaboratively with various organisations inculding The Kirkwood, Connect Health, Southwest Yrorkshire oartnership NHS Foundation Trust, Kirklees Diverse Communities Network, Creative Scenes, IMWS, Kirklees Dementia Hub and Kirklees Council- Adult Social Care, and local schools and colleges.
Our aim is to continue to reduce isolation for members of our community, to improve their quality of life and support our carers with vital respite. We want to reach out to more members of our community that can benefit from our services.
Therefore we continue to develop our service to meet the ongoing identified needs of our community and plan projects such as Milen's Wellness Garden to continulously improve our provision, create an inclusive environment to encourage community involvement and support their health and wellbeing.
