The idea
I'm applying on behalf of Morriston Town AFC which runs from The Dingle, Off Clydach Road in Morriston. We are a voluntary run club with 3 senior football teams, a youth team, 3 junior teams, a darts and pool team all running from the club. The club also hosts youth groups and children's parties. For years we have experienced antisocial behaviour on the grounds but recently this has got worse due to the fence being blown down in the bad weather at the start of the year. There is now no fence around the premises at all. We have priced up a new fence which will cost £8800 for materials alone, which we simply cannot afford. Almost on a daily basis we are experiencing fires, smashed bottles, litter, drug use, criminal damage, motorbikes turning up the pitch which all have to be rectified by committee members. It's a danger to all who use the club, especially the young children in the junior section who train and play here and constantly have to look out for broken glass, drug paraphernalia
What we'll deliver
- Metal fencing
Why it's a great idea
It will prevent the antisocial behaviour that the club regularly faces, including fires, break ins, litter, smashed glass and noise. The local neighbours are desperate for something to happen. The children always have to avoid certain areas, or committee have to do a check before any training etc which is frustrating and dangerous if something is missed.
Steps to get it done
- Buying the fence
