The idea
Messy Mischief Maker is a much loved, volunteer and community led project that takes place once or twice a week at Theatre Porto. It provides space for child-development and play and provides connection and community for many new parents.
The space is offered at highly subsidised rates by Theatre Porto by way of supporting this fab community initiative. This means that many families are also introduced to other creative activities they can access for free. It takes place in Theatre Port's rehearsal room and there is the need for minor improvement to this space to make it fit for purpose such as storage and acoustics.
What we'll deliver
- Minimum of 30 creative messy play sessions for parents, carers and children
- Improvements to the space
Why it's a great idea
Messy Mischief Maker offers vital space for child development and community connection, especially for new parents. Occurring weekly, it enhances cognitive growth, motor skills, creativity, and social abilities in children. For parents, it builds a support network, reduces isolation, and provides access to other free creative activities.
The community benefits through increased engagement, inclusivity, and cultural exposure, supporting a culture of volunteerism. Minor improvements to Theatre Porto’s rehearsal room are needed to fully realize these benefits:
1. **Storage Solutions:** Ensuring an organized, clutter-free, and safe environment with adequate storage for materials and toys.
2. **Acoustic Enhancements:** Reducing noise levels for a more comfortable, focused, and engaging atmosphere.
