Memoirs Through Murals

Dear backers, Our crowdfunding campaign, launched in May 2019 set out to deliver a series of murals across Collier Row High Street, working with local school children of Clockhouse Primary School, Oasis Academy, Crownfield, Pinewood and Parklands Junior Schools. In collaboration with the local community, we’ve delivered a beautiful mural, located at 5-7 Collier Row Road, RM5 3NP; for those of you who have not yet seen it, please do have a look. As you will recall, the campaign set out that we would be utilising crowdfunded resources to manage this process, pay for designer time hosting engagement and design development workshops, fees and materials. The project has created some amazing outcomes and long-lasting local connections. We held 23 workshops involving over 700 local people, including school children, older adults, local residents and local businesses, in this project, generating hundreds of local stories that formed the basis of designs developed, and that more than 1,000 people from the area eventually voted on. The project was led by a dedicated group of local people, who worked together to commission the artist and approve the artwork. However, protracted challenges have meant that we’ve been unable to implement the full scope of the project – specifically the number of co-designed murals - as originally envisaged and the project is now considered as completed.
