The children in the kids club want to raise money to build a better space for them to learn and play, building and working on a gaming space. They currently have a small dilapidated I.T space with computers that are old and not up to date, with tired and missing equipment and ageing software.
They want a bright, colourful space that gives them new opportunities to develop skills they can't learn elsewhere. The children want to do more around game coding, digital music but also have the chance to play games connected with their friends and peers. They would like to have the use and availability of VR technology and more up to date usable equipment.
The children are aware that this will idea cost a lot of money and are planning their own varied small fundraising activities to help support this but they need extra support to help make this happen.
We as a community would love for you to invest in us to make this happen.

Why it's a great idea:
The benefits to this project will allow children to have better opportunities to enhance their technical abilities, through learning in a fun way. We all know the worlds technical development is increasing fast and we want to support our children to be given as much opportunity to develop these skills without the barriers of living in a deprived area or financial barriers. The children will also benefit skills such as team work and the cost of a project when fundraising. This project won't just support our young people but other projects within our centre and. We have an adult day-care provision and within this we would like to give the adults the opportunity to develop their skills doing similar activities, we will also use this space for sessions for alternative education, children struggling in mainstream school and that environment. We also aim to use the VR to support activities with older people within the community with dementia friendly apps and activities.
Steps to get it done:
- Stripping and preparing the room
- Installing necessary networking and electrics
- Purchasing and fitting desks/ lighting
- Purchase & install technical equipment
- Preparing the room up ready for use
- Hold launch event
The children want to do various fundraisers to support raising money ranging from making cakes and jewellery, to taking part in a sponsored walk. They plan to walk 5000 miles- equivalent to walking all around the coast of the UK. They will do this as a collective getting the staff and their parents involved in the walking too. They will then walk the last 6 miles from a local lighthouse along the coast in fancy dress or pyjamas to finish the miles raising awareness of the project along the way.
A child's parent has offered to run the Great North Run in support of this project.
