Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
Thank you to our friends and community members. We still have a ways to go and fundraising is HARD. So please spread the word. Unlike garden projects, our benefit may not be immediately visible, or raise the value of your home. But the benefit of a more engaged and employed group of young people and volunteers will bring dividends to us all. You'll be funding the 'garden' that will grow the inventors, problem solvers and leaders of tomorrow.
The coaches have signed up and so have the primary school teams. Latymer has made it official. This term is all about bedding down our approach so we can then involve the state secondary schools waiting for their teenagers to have the chance to be a coach, host a league and become part of the Maths Teams support network. We are so grateful to Latymer for being our incubator. Now all they need is us to bring it on! Please help us make it happen by pledging. GoCardless's minimum is £2. We are grateful for every penny. If we don't hit our target by mid-December, we get zero and that's a bit scary.
Eric Schmidt, who turned Google into what it is today, believes that one of the most valuable things society can do is seek and find its “lost Einsteins” and give them a support network. He made the remark at McKinsey’s BLINK conference. It was a moment in which my day job collided with my start-up passion because that is what we do at Maths Teams, or at least one of the things. We also provide a place where such children can feel they belong, all the while becoming role models for others. On another note, we hit 30 pledges today. Hurrah! That was our target for this week and we got there thanks to a combination of generous folks who are close to Maths Teams, some having benefited directly and others who believe our mission will help everyone. And a lovely group from within our community who want to see us bring Maths Teams to other schools in Hammersmith and Fulham. #lovingwhatwedo #lovingwherewelive #gratitude
Whoop, 30 people have pledged since fundraising began!
