The idea

We’re Managing Our Mental CIC (MOM), and we want to bring free mental health support to more people across Hammersmith & Fulham. This project will expand our MENtality Men’s Talking Groups and Let’s Learn workshops, and offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to residents.

Our groups are safe, inclusive spaces where people can talk, learn, and build resilience. MENtality supports men, especially those feeling isolated. Let’s Learn is a mixed group focused on mental health education and self-awareness. Both are trauma-informed and community-led.

Funding will help us run sessions in venues across the borough, train facilitators, cover venue hire and materials, and subsidise MHFA training. This will make mental health support more accessible, local, and preventative.

We’ve already supported hundreds through our pilot projects. With your help, we can scale this impact and reach more communities in need.

What we'll deliver

  • Run 10+ MENtality and Let’s Learn sessions across H&F
  • Hire venues and provide light refreshments
  • Train 3–5 facilitators to lead sessions
  • Deliver Mental Health First Aid training to 30+ residents
  • Create printed and digital workshop materials
  • Collaborate with residents to shape session themes and content

Why it's a great idea

This project will provide free, community-led mental health support across Hammersmith & Fulham, helping reduce stigma and improve wellbeing. It will create safe spaces for men and mixed groups to talk, connect, and learn. Participants will build confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience.

Offering Mental Health First Aid training will empower residents to better support others and promote a culture of prevention. The project will reduce isolation, especially among men and those from underrepresented backgrounds, and foster stronger, healthier neighbourhoods.

We’ll also raise awareness of mental health in culturally relevant ways, helping people seek help earlier and feel less alone.

Steps to get it done

  • Recruit local volunteers and partners to co-deliver sessions.
  • Plan and schedule a series of 8–12 community events across Hammersmith & Fulham.
  • Launch MOM’s new Walkie Talkie nature-based walking and talking sessions.
  • Deliver culturally relevant mental health workshops and men’s talking groups.
  • Launch a digital wellbeing resource (e.g. downloadable journal or toolkit).
