More about our impact
The environment
Our project helped the environment as we refreshed 21 street planters this making the town's shopping area more colourful and support peoples well being post Covid
The local economy
It helped the local economy as the planters brightened yup the main shopping streets and post Covid made the town a more pleasant environment to shop in. No star on this as businesses reluctant to give information.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We increased volunteering as we worked with another local voluntary group and a couple of residents who joined us on the planting went on to become members of Herne Bay In Bloom.
Arts, culture & heritage
Unfortunately, this aspect of renovating the victorian planters was unachievable as the planters were beyond repair within the monies raised and would have cost substantially more to renovate as they required metal fabrication, new wood floor and sides. It was agreed to scrap these and use the remaining monies to allow Herne Bay In Bloom to plant up the local KCommunity Kitchen space they run in Memorial Park and a an area of the seafront they are responsible for maintaining. All monies raised was used in line with project aims and remit.
Activity, health and leisure
The brightening up of these planters post Covid would create a more attractive place to visit and bring people back out post Covid and thus supporting their mental health and wellbeing.
