The idea

We will work with young women aged 16 to 18 years old, identified through local sixth forms and colleges - who we have a track record of working with, often targeting those on pupil premium. The young people will shape the project themselves during initial sessions, working within a loose framework to create work that speaks of their experiences and the space they want to make. Participants will build art skills in a supportive environment, meet others in similar circumstances and examine their thoughts from a new perspective. Both individual and collaborative artworks created will be exhibited at the Horsebridge Gallery at the end of the project.
The project will run 14 sessions, culminating in a fortnight exhibition in our large gallery which will include a photographic record of the project and workshops providing structured peer to peer support for local young people interested in the work. The practitioners identified are experienced in working with young people.

What we'll deliver

  • Young women aged 16 to 18 will benefit from the to create a space to express their experiences with support and safety
  • Large collaborative artworks will be created which will be exhibited in the Horsebridge as past of a final exhibition.
  • Create a record of the project as part of the exhibition, providing support and signposting for local young people
