The idea
Chester City Centre attracts millions of visitors each year and we want to ensure that they are kept as safe as possible. Having easy access to a defibrillator could help safe a life while reassuring visitors that crucial life saving equipment is on hand should they fall ill when visiting Chester.
Chester City Centre already has some defibrillators however not all are accessible all of the time. We can overcome this problem by installing externally located defibrillators at key locations around the city to ensure they can be accessed at and time of day or night.
Securely mounted to the outside of a building in a robust metal casing, the defibrillators are only accessible with a special code given out by the ambulance service.
We believe another 4 defibrillators in the city centre will help Chester become 'Heart Safe' and call on your help to make this happen.

Why it's a great idea
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) kills more people than lung cancer, breast cancer and AIDs combined. SCA can happen to the young, fit and old - anyone, anywhere at any time.
Together with effective CPR, defibrillation is the only way to re-establish the heart's natural rhythm.
In recent years there have been several incidents of people collapsing in Chester City Centre suffering from SCA and needing the use of a defibrillator. Installing four new, 24hr accessible defibrillators in the city centre will ensure people who do fall ill have easy access to the equipment they need to help them.
