The idea

Our project is to run three outdoor adventure experiences for people from the Cotswolds who are living with a disability or chronic health condition. These adventures involve a range of activities, including high ropes, abseiling, raft-building, bushcraft, outdoor survival skills, tunnelling, archery & leadership exercises. All activities are designed to push boundaries whilst encouraging social interaction and personal growth.
The experiences are delivered by qualified instructors alongside MAD Adventures staff, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Groups will rotate through different activities, allowing them to experience a variety of challenges to test themselves physically & mentally & foster opportunities for teamwork.
We aim to build upon the success of our adventures by expanding the MAD Community - encouraging prior adventurers to become more involved in our work by volunteering, becoming a team leader/mentor for others or sharing experiences.

What we'll deliver

  • 3 outdoor adventure experiences
  • 20 participants per adventure
  • incorporate first-aid training
  • Build a post-event support network

Why it's a great idea

Local GPs and physiotherapists have highlighted the importance of physical activity and social interaction for our target group, noting that our experiences address these needs in a supportive and engaging environment. They have expressed enthusiasm for our project and its potential to improve the overall well-being of their clients.

Specialist personal trainers recognize the value of our project, stating that it complements their ongoing efforts to promote physical fitness and well-being, sharing their observations of the positive impact our events have had on their clients. We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from prior attendees.
Participants have reported increased confidence, improved social connections and a renewed sense of purpose following their involvement in our events. Many have expressed a strong desire to participate in future adventures and have actively encouraged others within the community to get involved.
