The idea
The Luneside and Rosebank clubhouse is nearly 200 years old and is in an ideal location to serve residents living on the western side of Lancaster. However, we are unable to really reach out to the community because we cannot afford to heat the building with our present heating system. With a modern heating system in place we will be able to offer a valuable service to the local community - a warm space, a meeting place, a function room, various indoor sports and activities along with board games in a comfortable and warm environment. The crown green is well used by bowlers but there is so much more we could and would like to do inside the clubhouse, particularly nurturing the health and wellbeing of the elderly and disadvantaged. We want to link with the NHS through the social prescribing initiatives
What we'll deliver
- The installation of x 6 new modern electrical heaters
Why it's a great idea
Create a vibrant community hub, improving the lives, health and wellbeing of local residents of all ages but with a particular emphasis on the elderly.
Allow the local community to meet in a warm comfortable environment.
Allow more people to play crown green bowls outdoors and to socialise indoors.
A safe space for the elderly to meet and enjoy the existing facilities - kitchen, small bar, snooker, table tennis, darts, board games etc..
We have ambitious plans for the club but are currently hampered by a lack of an adequate and fit for purpose heating system.
Steps to get it done
- Installation of the new electric heating system
- Reaching out to the local community through a series of taster events
Although we are reaching out to create a warm environment for the elderly we are also committed to growing our junior membership not only through the playing of crown green bowls but by also offering space for families to meet and socialise.
