More about our impact
The environment
The appeal was based around getting rid of old inefficient heaters - both electrical and storage heaters and installing modern low energy, highly efficient radiators. Although we are still endeavouring to keep our energy costs and usage down we are now in a position to make better use of the clubhouse with affordable heating if necessary.
The local economy
Although we have reached out to the local community and offered our facilities to local user groups there has been little take up, to date. Although a little disappointing we are not despondent as we know that if interest does grow we can facilitate such groups without financial jeopardy as far as heating costs are concerned.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Our project wasn't based around increasing volunteering, jobs or education. However, if a user group involved in these areas approached the club we would discuss how they might be accommodated.
Arts, culture & heritage
Once again, the project wasn't really about helping arts, culture and heritage. However and once again any user group involved with arts and/or culture would be welcomed. The building itself is nearly 200 years old and although not listed it is of historical significance.
Activity, health and leisure
As I mentioned earlier increased usage has been a little disappointing, to date. Encouraging greater usage from within the existing membership and the wider community is a slow but ongoing process.
