The history of Lostock St Gerard’s Football Club goes back to just after the Second World War. Four acres of land was donated to Our Lady and St. Gerard’s church for recreational purposes for members of the parish. After the Second World War efforts were made to form a football club run by men from the parish. The team joined the Preston and District Catholic League where they remained for several years with varying amounts of success. Later a junior team was introduced to run alongside the seniors.
In the mid 1980’s the football club purchased the land carried out improvement work to the changing facilities and played its football with good success in the Lancashire Sunday Football League. Throughout the 1990’s further ground improvements were made, and the football club decided to move to Saturday football and moved to the Preston and District Football League, now known as the Mid Lancashire Football League. Following a moderate amount of success, in 2005 the first team moved to play its football in the West Lancashire Football League, with the reserves following suit 5 years later.
In 2022 the Football Club added Ladies and Junior Teams to the portfolio, increasing the offering to the local community. Today the club has teams from U8 to Veterans (Over 35's) with male and female participants. As we strive to benefit our local community a mental health team was established in 2023 that sees over 50 men particvapte each week.
