Love Clitheroe is a gathering of churches and faith groups in Clitheroe, seeking to work together to bless the town through community events. We run these events throughout the year, ranging from our annual Carols at the Castle Christmas event to our Love Clitheroe Festival and family BBQ each summer. We regularly see over 4,000 people attending the summer event and upto 3,000 at our Winter event.
Love Clitheroe works to give our rurally isolated community better access to social, creative and cultural opportunities. Despite being Lancashire's largest district, we are the most sparsely populated, with no cities or major roads to connect our remote villages and small towns. Because of these geographical barriers, we have among the lowest access to services in the country. Love Clitheroe bridges this gap, providing touchpoints throughout the year for families of all walks of life to come together and feel more connected to their community.
Love Clitheroe has existed as an unconstituted grassroots volunteer group since 2008. The ever-growing popularity of the Love Clitheroe BBQ year on year has led to its development as a free family music and arts festival, with up to 5,000 people expected to attend in 2026.
