This campaign is one of the many steps in our community’s journey to raise £55k-£60K to buy & install an amazing new playground for the community’s children. The monies raised from this crowdfunding page will be spent during phase one of a three phase project. Phase one of the project requires us to raise £25k. This amount will allow us to purchase a range of new playground equipment, which will include a fantastic new Zip Line. This I’m sure you’ll agree this will look great in our village park. The great news is that we’re already passed the halfway mark, with a massive £15k already secured from local grants. However we’re not quite there yet! So please, please, pledge however much you can, to support this great project for the children of the village.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Playgrounds are an essential part of childhood; they help in the fight against obesity; help to protect children against mental illness and social isolation; and, by providing a focal point for the community, they help to make neighborhoods safer for everyone. And they're fun! West Bergholt has valuable community space, but it's tired and run-down and is far from the vibrant hub we know it could be. Having consulted widely among park users, there's a broad consensus across the community that key to transforming the park is developing the playground. We want to replace the old, limited equipment with exciting new pieces that appeal to children of all ages and abilities, giving them for the first time a safe space in which can play together.
Steps to get it done:
Steps so far: • Back in Oct 2018 we established the West Bergholt Playground Advisory Group. • By Dec 2018 we had secured a £10k grant from Essex County Council. With another £5k agreed from the Parish Council. We also have a pledge of potentially £1-2k by the allotment association (pending sales of produce in 2019) in the pipeline. • Plans, designs and costs obtained. • Local fund raising started in the form of the West Bergholt Film nights. Current funds raised at approx. (£300+) All of this costs money: £55-60K to be precise. While we hope that most of this will come from grants, however before we can even apply for some of these we need ''match funding' - a proportion of the award that we're seeking for phase one of the project. That's where you come in... Please pledge however much you can to support this great project.
