The idea

Longfield Hill Community Hall is situated in the heart of the Longfield Hill community! When built, the Longfield Hill Community hall group of trustees was set up and the hall subsequently leased to 1st New Barn Scouts for management and maintenance, with approval from the trustees. The lease is between the trustees and the Scout Association. The roof and windows are the originals, since 1949, and are in significant need of replacement. The hall is currently used regularly by local community groups, including all Scout sections and some Guide sections as well as ad-hoc usage by the local residents and council.

Why it's a great idea

The main benefit to the community will be the external appearance of the hall and also improved safety, security and functionality to it’s users.
The improved condition of the hall will also make it more attractive to future hall users and hopefully increase revenue for 1st New Barn Scout activities and further hall improvements.

Steps to get it done

  • Removal of existing white asbestos roof
  • Installation of new plastisol coated metal corrugated roof sheets
  • Installation of powder coated galvanised steel guttering
  • Removal of existing metal windows
  • Installation of new uPVC windows throughout
