The idea
Long Ashton Cricket Club is a popular community club with a friendly atmosphere and a thriving junior section. This season is our 150th summer and we had many plans to make this a memorable year.
The club relies heavily upon playing cricket to generate its own income through membership subscriptions, match fees, ground hires and bar revenue but obviously with no fixtures and events we find ourselves in a in a very different position than normal.
We are still working hard to ensure the club is ready to play cricket as soon as the current Covid-19 restrictions allow.
Please help us to ensure we can survive the current crisis and provide a safe and welcoming environment when cricket returns to Yanley Lane.
What we'll deliver
- A cricket pitch ready for play once the lockdown is lifted
- Necessary pavilion modifications (e.g. hand sanitisers, extra cleaning) for the safe resumption of cricket
Why it's a great idea
Long Ashton Cricket Club has a long and proud history and we want that to continue.
We have 2 league sides and Friday night social side.
We also have a popular junior section with nearly 100 youngsters (aged 5-15) from the local community who enjoy regular cricket coaching and matches.
The local community and schools also use the club for private parties and events.
Steps to get it done
- Continue to provide necessary maintenance and cleaning until end of May
- Review the club's financial position at the end of May and possible schedule for returning to cricket
- Identify initial safety measures required for returning to cricket at end of May
- Assuming cricket may return in July, increase maintenance regime in June
- Purchase necessary safety and cleaning equipment by end of June
