Supporting and enabling creative and diverse projects that benefit our local communities
I would like to work with the local community in Lisson Green to create local artwork to be displayed on the hoardings of a local development. I would like the artwork to be meaningful to residents.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Lisson Arches is a development project part of the Church Street Regeneration Programme by Westminster City Council. I am the resident liaison officer for the project, working with the contractors to increase social value and liaise with residents about the development. As part of the project, I'm looking to work with the community to create a memorable piece of artwork that has meaning to the local community to be displayed on the hoardings. This artwork would be created by the community and displayed on their doorstep. I would like to encourage local residents to engage with the development, particularly young people and elderly and vulnerable residents who may find themselves bored or alone during the pandemic. The creative hoardings project also aims to encourage residents to take ownership of the scheme and contribute to their local environment while inspiring creativity and involvement.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This project will bring a community feel to the project happening on their doorstep and provide them with the opportunity to be involved in something bigger! Residents from the area will have the opportunity to produce a collaborative display revolving around their lives. The hoardings project will provide residents with art supplies of their choosing to encourage them to get their creative juices flowing. The project will also provide residents with the Covid-19 safe, outdoor activity as they walk around the hoardings to view the final piece. Involvement can help people be at ease and feel part of something. Creativity can help promote mental wellbeing by giving people agency and allowing them to explore new ideas and express themselves. Creating art can allow people to channel their emotions into something positive, this will help residents feeling vulnerable and isolated during these difficult times and will bring everyone together to collaborate on something for their community
