The idea
Linacre Court is a diverse estate, with 30 or more languages spoken in our estate and our residents we spend time in each others flats, teaching each other how to cook food from countries from all over the world. We also have a community garden , where children and adults have been growing Tomatoes, Onions, Potatoes, Chard, Spring Onions, Chillies, Leeks, and various herbs and we want our residents to cook amazing dishes together.
We currently run a food bank for families and single people who are struggling to pay bills as well as eat well, and when our new community centre opens we will create an international community kitchen where people can learn how to cook. The funds raised in this crowdfunding campaign will be used to kit out the kitchen with a Fridge and freezer, Large cooker, and various kitchen equipment.
What we'll deliver
- We will deliver a teaching community kitchen.
- We will work with families on healthy eating programmes
- We will be working with other community groups , schools, youth groups , elderly, etc
- We will host community taste sessions for local residents , and invited guests.
Why it's a great idea
For over 5 years , the Linacre Court Tennents Residents Association, has been supporting residents made up of families with children, elderly, people with mental and physical disabilities, we run a food bank , helping residents manage their debts, we have also been operating Three supplementary schools for the children Maths, English Coding. This community kitchen will enable us to deliver exciting cooking projects , using recipes from all over the world, this community kitchen will also bring people together and form new relationships, especially at a time where people are loosing their jobs, and for those people who find it difficult in socialising , we see our International Community kitchen, as a place where people can come and learn how to cook and socialise and make friends.
Steps to get it done
