More about our impact
The environment
The project has allowed the church to be admired . As the photographs illustrate many parts of the church that were previously not easily seen can now be admired. We recently had an organ concert by the international organist Jonathan Scott where the lighting allowed the audience to focus their attention on the playing and then by easily adjusting the lighting afterwards admire the church.
The local economy
There is a lot of bed and breakfast accommodation in Tideswell and visitors commented on the church being a highlight of their stay. Jonathan Scott, the organist mentioned above, is coming back to give another concert next year and we have been contacted by others who wish to hire the church for a concert.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We kept the church open during the work but had to steward it while the work proceeded. Many non church goers from the village helped with this since we had to always have two stewards on duty and the work was spread out over 15 weeks. Therefore many more people in the village now know a lot about the importance of this church in our English Heritage
Arts, culture & heritage
As part of the village food festival there was a Makers market in the church. The improved lighting made it a much better venue for stall holders to display their craft.
Activity, health and leisure
The lighting make the building more accessible for those visiting whether it is to find a quiet place, study a carving or simply rest.
