We will transform a disused container to create a Container Coffee Pod. Every cuppa will 'lift the lid' on domestic violence so that it is no longer a hidden crime. Every cuppa counts!
Merseyside Domestic Violence Service is a grassroots local charity serving the most vulnerable families in Liverpool for the past 2 decades. Our main aims are to safeguard women, children and young people through education, empowerment and prevention and by tackling the root cause of the problem we will inform and innovate change.
We have demonstrated that we are leaders of change in the city. For isntance in 2014, MDVS introduced the first service for non-convicted male perpetrators of domestic violence in Liverpool which has gone from strength to strength. Male perpetrators were invisible in the child protection system prior to this and Children's Services in Liverpool are now one of our largest referrers. We recently secured Stage 1 REPSECT accrediation and participate in International and National forums with experts in the field of domestic violence. Last year we identified that Liverpool are the Stalking Capital of England and Wales, we took action and secured fudning from Liverpool City Council to deliver training and awareness to safeguarding professionals in Liverpool. Steve Reddy, Director of Children's Services, told us that we identified a gap where no one else did. MDVS have now introduced the first ISAC, Independant Stalking Advocacy Caseworker to help increase the safety of the highest risk victims of post separation stalking.
