The idea

Learning Without Limits will provide tutoring in Maths, English, Science and Drama for disadvantaged pupils aged 5 to 18 in Enfield. The project will support children who face barriers to learning, including those with dyslexia and special educational needs.

Many local families have said how hard it is to afford extra tutoring. As a result, children who need help often fall behind and lose confidence in their ability to succeed. Our project will change this by removing financial barriers and creating access to high-quality, community-based learning support.

Tutoring sessions will take place in a local community venue with trained tutors who build confidence and tailor support to each child’s needs. We aim to support at least 50 pupils this academic year through small group and one-to-one sessions, helping them to improve skills, raise attainment and believe their future has no limits.

What we'll deliver

  • Hire a local community venue to host tutoring sessions.
  • Deliver weekly tutoring sessions in core subjects and Drama for pupils aged 5 to 18.
  • Provide learning resources including books, stationery and printed study materials.
  • Provide CPD training and DBS checks for tutors and volunteers to ensure high-quality teaching.
  • Run outreach and marketing to reach disadvantaged families across Enfield.

Why it's a great idea

Enfield has one of the lowest levels of educational attainment in London and a wide gap between high and low income families. This project will remove the financial barrier to extra tutoring for disadvantaged pupils aged 5 to 18. Through tailored support in core subjects and Drama, pupils will build confidence, strengthen literacy and numeracy skills and improve their academic attainment.

The benefit goes beyond grades. Pupils will develop self-belief, focus and motivation to achieve their goals. Parents will feel supported, knowing their children are receiving the help they need to succeed. One parent said, “My son used to doubt himself, but now he looks forward to learning again.” Over time, the project will raise aspirations, promote equality and help create a stronger, more confident community where every pupil can learn without limits.

Steps to get it done

  • Hire a community venue, purchase learning resources and train tutors and volunteers.
  • Deliver weekly tutoring sessions for pupils aged 5 to 18 and build confidence in learning.
  • Track pupils’ academic attainment and progress through feedback, school reports and an end-of-project report.
