More about our impact
The local economy
Some of the women we supported have gained the confidence and improved self-esteem to allow them to start on their journey to employment or further study.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We now have a group of regular women volunteers who can help with further womens projects and offer peer support to any woman who needs a safe place to come. As and when we expand My Sisters Kitchen we can look to offer paid opportunities and will invite these women to apply for these roles. Women are also offered other volunteering opportunities within the centre.
Activity, health and leisure
The women reported that they were experimenting more with cooking from scratch at home, and were buying ingredients such as herbs and spices that they wouldn't usually. use. Socialising with others with similar experiences allowed for women to share, and know they were in a safe space. Several women reported that coming to My Sisters' Kitchen was the highlight of their week, and gave them something to look forward to. Fit Kat Coaching provided free fitness sessions over the lunch period which helped to motivate the women to take part in Boxercise sessions. Some women have now gone on to take part in our side-projects offered by My Sisters' Kitchen and Fit Kat Coaching
