The idea
Lancashire Briefs is a theatre-based night of monologue written by Lancashire writers and directed and performed by Lancashire actors.
We are very proud to have given new and established writers the chance to see their work brought to life on stage here in Lancashire.
We have performed previously at Lancashire Fringe Festival in 2019 and 2022 to sell-out crowds of over 100 in Preston.
As part of this year’s festival we will perform the show four times, over four nights at four different venues in Preston and South Ribble. The evenings will be five brand new monologues.
By taking the show to community spaces in non-theatre venues we will engage with community audiences who do not usually see live performance.
The crowdfunder will pay for the writing, directing and performing of Lancashire Brief’s 2024.
What we'll deliver
- Show the power of Lancashire creatives and the impact of the arts in Lancashire communities
Why it's a great idea
We ferociously believe in the talent right here in Lancashire but all too often they have to leave our beautiful county, and very often people come in from outside Lancashire to take their work.
We like giving Lancashire creatives the chance to work right here in Lancashire. All funds raised will stay right here in Lancashire.
Amateur writers see their dreams brought to life by professional actor in Lancashire Briefs. In the past this has been a life changing experience for our contributors. Every single person involved in previous 'Briefs' has enjoyed it and used it as a platform to either start a creative career or to further their career.
We actively work to engage audiences from 'hard to reach' communities and actively work to give people from these communities a voice on stage. We don't think theatre should be for a select few and we are proud to bring people from all backgrounds together.
Steps to get it done
- We aim to start rehearsals in late September and bring the stories to life mid October
