By Lambton Raptore Basketball Club
We have been catering sports and well-being grassroots basketball activities for the community. From Under 10, 12, 14, 16 & senior levels. We have grown since COVID times and we need support.
Since our formation when the government started easing COVID policies on sport halls in late 2020. We immediately took advantage in bringing as many juniors into our local sports hall. Lambton Street Youth & Community Hub is a well established center that has an aim to serve the community, especially youth. The manager has entrusted us to make this platform and we have never stopped since. The sessions became really popular because it housed the activities in a safer environment. The participants, mostly youth, have entered into a structured training format, when it used be in open parks only. With our combined dedication, the club has grown from just a weekly basketball activity into a club that is now very active in both Newcastle & Durham leagues. We are still run by passionate hearts and now IN NEED of your financial SUPPORT to sustain the growth we are experiencing in order for us to serve the families that are coming in to join us. We aim to use the monies for MORE activities.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
As we have proven in the last 2 years post COVID times. We have multiple testimonies of health benefits across the age group. We have attracted a lot of players from different areas (incl Aberdeen, Leeds & London) to participate in our Fun Day leagues. And with continuous programme, we are getting a lot of newcomers who are joining our sessions. We like to continue in building our junior levels to be in a happy social environment whilst enjoying basketball. We are also incorporating the parents to be involved in our programmes and league games, by being alongside coaches. This is beneficial in building relationship and cement the social aspect of our club. If we can further fund our advance programme, the players who have now progressed in skill level will be enrolled to National League games. This will bring fruition to our AIM in giving them the FULL Basketball EXPERIENCE. This may lead to their scholarships and can be the future ambassadors of Sports and well-being programme.
Steps to get it done:
We are the only Basketball England registered club in Sunderland. And we have now engaged in a local secondary school to facilitate their after school club. With financial support. We like to dedicate funds to send recommendable young adults to be certified/qualified officials through Basketball England. So we can cater more schools from primary to College levels. We like you to partner with us to serve our community in all our aspirations. To bring our young generation to a more pro-active lifestyle , to experience a healthy social environment and the chance to take charge in their wellbeing and involvement to their immediate community. Our area needs grassroot activities like ours, and we have proven our worth with the amount of growth we are currently experiencing. We need your generosity for us to continue.
