Ladies That Journey is a community-led organisation supporting women across Liverpool and Knowsley who feel isolated, low in confidence, or overwhelmed by everyday life. Our mission is to help women rebuild wellbeing, self-esteem, and purpose through free, local, child-friendly programmes that remove barriers caused by the cost-of-living crisis.
Born from lived experience last year after hitting rock bottom and the doctors dignosed me with depression a lady helped me get out of that dark place it sparked the idea of creating this community i want to give back like i was helped and our team understands the pressures women face balancing childcare, work, and mental health. We work with GPs, councils, maternity services, and community groups to reach those who need support most. Each participant completes a short conversation and questionnaire before joining one of our six-week wellbeing programmes, which run during school hours to give mums and carers protected time for themselves in safe, welcoming venues.
Since January 2024, we’ve supported over 100 women, offering sessions on confidence, coping strategies, mental health, mindfulness, and building friendships. Creative workshops, guest speakers, and community walks reconnect women with local green spaces and their communities. Later sessions introduce pathways into volunteering, education, and work, supported by soft-skills training in communication, confidence, and self-presentation.
Our project is shaped by participants’ feedback. One woman said, “This course gave me the courage to go back to work,” another shared, “I finally feel like myself again.”
We’re running this campaign to expand our reach. Funding will allow us to deliver more courses, provide facilitators and materials, cover childcare and venue costs, develop volunteer pathways, and strengthen outreach and support. Together, we help women grow in confidence, improve wellbeing, and reconnect with their community creating stronger, healthier, and more resilient local areas.
