Kingsbury Schools are working together to clean up our local environment to raise the profile of keeping our streets litter free.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
6 Kingsbury Schools have been tidying up their local community to rid the streets of litter through regular pupil litter picking sessions; pupils have engaged with the local community to encourage them to be more vigilant on litter picking and flytipping in our area. The pupils have also been learning about recycling and reusing their rubbish rather than sending to landfill. In class, our Year 4 pupils will be making new products from their waste. They will showcase their work in a carnival through Kingsbury High Street, culminating in the local park to showcase our ideas. All the work will be on display at our Civic Centre to encourage our wider Brent community to re-think and take responsibility for their rubbish. We will be designing leaflets and posting these in our neighbourhood to engage everybody.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Education is central to everything - teaching the children at a young age how to take pride in their community is important, not only does it help develop their understanding but it helps their families too. Showing our community that our younger generation are taking responsibility for their community will encourage others to take part, take note and become more responsible for our environment.
Steps to get it done:
We have been following our activities on our Schools' websites & Twitter Feeds, in addition Brent Council have been following us on their social media, Magazines and Newsletters to reach the whole borough. If we can raise this issue, we can actively work together to tidy up our community, respect our environment and take responsibility for "Loving Where We Live"
