By Wales Restorative Approaches Partnership
WRAP would like to bring together expertly trained former offenders and recovered victims with young people to make them aware of knife crime.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
The training and practice team at WRAP and our wonderful volunteers know we could help people stay safe, build their confidence and initiate some great community led work. We would provide former offenders and recovered victims with training and mentoring to accompany us to visit schools and talk about their experiences, introduce restorative approaches and encourage young people not to carry knives.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Knife crime is a problem in South Wales communities and in particular in our schools. We can bring a unique and impactful perspective to young people, encouraging them to avoid carrying knives and to work with their peers to make them aware too.
Sometimes hearing about things you shouldn't do when you're a teenager makes very little difference to what you actually do, think and feel. If you hear the real consequences from those with experience and you learn how to share that with others it can make such a big difference.
